An alleged female leader of a kidnap gang terrorising Nasarawa and its environs has been
arrested by the police.
Police say Hawa Yinusa has masterminded several kidnappings and murder in and around the state.
Police spokesperson Jimoh Moshood said on Sunday that Hawa led a gang that kidnapped a businesswoman identified as Aisha Haruna before she was later killed and abandoned in the bush at Uke town, Nasarawa.
Moshood named Hawa’s accomplices as Nura Dahiru, a.k.a ‘Ula’, and Buhari Hamisu, a.k.a ‘Wiseman’.
The suspects had allegedly changed the colour of the victim’s car from ash to navy blue.
“The suspect, Hawa Yinusa, further went to court and swore to an affidavit claiming that the victim was her sister before she died and was in the process of withdrawing from her bank account, about N1m,” police said.
“The suspect and her gang have carried out several kidnappings between Abuja, Nasarawa and Plateau States.
"They have also been involved and confessed to other forms of kidnappings of innocent people, collecting their ATM cards and withdrawing their money before releasing them.”
Police say the members of the gang have been identified by some of their victims and will be charged to court after investigations.
