Dino Melaye Appears in Court, Pleads Not
Guilty To New Nine-Count Charges, Granted Bail Again
Nigerian Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye has been granted bail by a Federal Court in Abuja after he pleaded not guielty to the nine-count charges by the police on Tuesday.
He had earlier been granted bail on Friday after the place charged him for alleged gun running and homicide.
However, the Nigerian Police refused to release the senator after court orders, hence, a fresh nine-count charges were brought up, including allegations that he resisted arrest.
Before a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Mataima, Justice Yusuf Halilu said Senator Melaye should be allowed to attend to his health as he could not be arraigned on a stretcher or on his hospital bed.
The Judge added that Senator Melaye must not leave Nigeria without a written letter seeking permission to travel.
