  • Sanwo-olu Breaks Record As Lagos Civil Servants Experience Delay In Salary

  • The Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-olu has broken
a new record as Civil servants in the state are yet to be paid their salary for the month of November.
In the last six years, civil servants in Lagos have received their monthly payment on or before the 22nd of each month, however, as at the time of filing this report, workers are yet to get paid.

Findings by Aynaijang.com revealed that workers who are used to receiving their payments on the 22nd are panicky as they do not know if this change is a temporary development or the beginning of an end.
A source who spoke with us on the condition of anonymity said the Government had appealed to civil servants to be patient with them this month as they are currently restructuring their payroll in other to accommodate the new minimum wage.

It will be recalled that, on Wednesday evening, the Governor approved the implementation of N35,000 minimum wage for the state workers. In a circular, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the head of service, said the implementation took effect on November 1.
Muri-Okunola said with the approval, public servants in Lagos were to start enjoying the new minimum wage immediately. He explained that payment of salaries for the month of November was delayed, in order to adequately process payment of the new wage.
