Babatunde Alfa, embattled Pastor of the popular Sotitobire
Miracle Centre in Akure Ondo State capital on Monday broke down in tears as he was remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Service in Akure.
Pastor Alfa was dragged before the Magistrate Court sitting in Oke Eda Akure by the Department of State Security Service, DSS, over the case of missing toddler, Eniola Kolawole, in his Church located at the Oshinle quarters of Akure.
The Akure Pastor was arraigned in the Court alongside six workers of his Church in a three counts charge bordering on felony, conspiracy and aiding to kidnap.
The other six accused persons included Mrs. Omodara Olayinka; Margaret Oyebola; Grace Ogunjobi; Egunjobi Motunrayo; Esther Kayode; and Mr. Peter Anjorin.
A copy of the charge sheet which was obtained by our correspondent reads, “That you Prophet Alfa Babatunde ’m’, Omodara Olayinka ’f’, Margaret Oyebola ‘f’, Grace Ogunjobi ‘f’, Egunjobu Motunrayo ’f’, Esther Kayode ’f’, Peter Anjorin ‘m’ others now at large on the 10th day of November 2019 at about 11:45 am at Sotitobire Praising Chapel, No. 48, Solagbade Street, Oshinle Quarters, Akure, Ondo State in the Akure Magisterial District did conspire together to commit felony to Wit: Kidnapping and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. I, Laws of Undo State 2006.
“That you Prophet Alfa Babatunde ’m’, Omodara Olayinka ’f’, Margaret Oyebola ‘f’, Grace Ogunjobi ‘f’, Egunjobu Motunrayo ’f’, Esther Kayode ’f’, Peter Anjorin ‘m’ and others now at large on the 10th day of November 2019 at about 11:4Sam at Sotitobire Praising Chapel, No. 48, Solagbade Street, Oshinle Quarters, Akure, Ondo State in the Akure Magisterial District did aid the kidnap of one Gold Eninlaloluwa Kolawole ’m’ aged 13-month and -thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 5(i) of the Ondo State Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Abduction Law, 2010.

“That you Peter Anjorin ‘m’ on the 10th day of December 2019 at about 2:00 pm at the premises of the Department of State Service, Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State in the Akure Magisterial District did destroy evidence by secretly taken away the vital evidence that would have aid speedy investigation in respect of the missing child (Gold Eninlaloluwa Kolawole) and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 123 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. I, Laws of Ondo State 2006.”
In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate Charity Adeyanju agreed that the Court has no jurisdiction to try the alleged offense and the case and ordered that the Pastor and other defendants be remanded at the Correctional Service for twenty-one days pending the outcome of the DSS investigation.
She added that the 1st and 3rd defendants should also be allowed for medical attention while in the prison custody and adjourned the case till the 17th of January, 2020.


The Pastor was immediately rushed out of the court in a white garment with the remaining defendants and was led into a black maria as he broke down in heavy tears.
Recall that on November 10, 2019, Eniola Gold Kolawole was declared missing during a special church program at Sotitobire Miracle Centre at the children's department of the church.

On December 10, 2019, Alfa was invited and subsequently arrested by operatives of the DSS following a petition received on the case of the missing as the police keep foot-dragging over the case.

Also, on December 18, 2019, some angry youths attacked and razed the church over rumors that the corpse of the missing baby was exhumed from the church altar.
