  • Rap legend Olamide blasts Naija Music Industry politics, brags "Fireboy has B-L-O-W-N!"

Are you still in doubt where exactly Olamide's loyalty lies,
then this latest gist is just for you. For quite some time there has been that muted conversation that there is an existence of politics in the Nigerian music industry, and now it's all out in the open. A short video is making the round that involves YBNL huncho & African rap legend Olamide berating those supposed music label owners who aren't supporting genuine young talents all because of their own selfish interests.

Olamide describes it as "stupid f***ing music politics" while taking out time to urge music lovers to continue supporting real talent like Fireboy DML who few days ago just released a highly successful album tagged "Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps" (LTG).

Some would call it the spur of the moment, but many who were at the gig tagged 'RedTV' organized by United Bank of Africa (UBA) where the outburst was made could testify that it wasn't about blabbing or rambling, Olamide aka 'Baddo' was speaking from his heart with no bias nor sentiments. Indeed if you have been searching for the true definition of what loyalty is, it's in abundance with Olamide no doubt.

He goes the distance to protect & assures the best packages for his artistes officially signed onto the YBNL music label, no matter the circumstance or consequence.

And the epoch event 'RedTV' made a perfect avenue to let it all out about how selfish music politics is killing the promising future of young good talents.

The viral video of Olamide condemning
regressive music politics was shared by a twitter user who was lucky enough to record that memorable moment where he (Olamide) held it down for his latest superstar protege Fireboy DML. See the video

    And some reactions below too:

Many observers are even claiming the outburst was directed at people like Don Jazzy whose young talent Rema is often viewed by most observers as an overhyped boy who is only known as a result of 'paid hype' and NOT for talent. Though there's an unpopular public opinion that Don Jazzy's music label Mavin is fond of using 'payola' mechanism to promote boys who are either not upto scratch or just having average talent. It's evident in Rema, who is often described as "Indian Drake" because he sings through his nose most times without any coherence in his songs. Not slighting him in any way, but it's the public opinion about his music craft.

All Olamide & YBNL are doing, and still want to achieve more, is promote great young talents to flourish to greater spectacle. The focus has always been TALENT FIRST, NOT HYPE. And you can see why he was really passionate in his call of support for Fireboy, the real deal.
It's interesting to note that Fireboy 2days ago dropped his debut album tagged "Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps", and it has been widely successful, getting very positive reviews from virtually all corners of the world. Download his album LTG HERE
