Covid-19: Trump To Pay N441,000 Stimulus To Americans, But Nigeria Government Unable to Pay Just N30k

President Donald Trump on Friday signed a $2.2 trillion financial
stimulus package bill to help cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic for American citizens. This came hours after the US House of Representatives in a bipartisan agreement approved the bill which the Senate passed on Wednesday.

But so unfortunate that Nigeria Presidency just debunked the report making rounds as regards payment of token N30,000 as stimulus to Nigerians who are at home.

Under this financial stimulus package, the American government is expected to make payments totaling $290 billion (N109 trillion) to Americans earning below $99,000 (N37 million) per annum, Vanguard reported. Americans in this demographic are to directly get up to $1,200 (N451,000) each, in addition to $500 (N188,000) per child.

For jobless workers and those who have been laid-off for up to four months, the package includes the payment of another $260 billion (N97 trillion). As reported by Vanguard, 3.3 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits amid massive job losses occasioned by the pandemic.

America has overtaken Italy as the worst hit country with the Coronavirus pandemic. Yesterday, the American government announced that doctors and nurses all over the world can apply for visas.

Aynaijang News recalled that Reno Omokri and former vice president, Atiku Abubakar have both suggested to President Muhammadu Buhari to make such intervention payments to Nigerians so as to help them cushion the effects of this pandemic.
