See What Great Nigerian Pastors Says About Tithe Paying, TB Joshua Statement Sparks Confusion

There have been lot of arguments and disagreement over tithing
in Nigerian Churches, and we don't think the controversy will be ending anytime soon.

A lot of people were made to believe that their first salary should be given freely in the church as a first fruit offering, a move which many have constantly condemned.

Over the years, some famous Nigerian pastors have repeatedly stressed the importance of tithing, while others have said otherwise about tithing. Now the big question is 'Who do we believe?'

See how famous Nigerian pastors have reacted to Tithing.

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye - (General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

Pastor Adeboye, who has repeatedly stressed the importance of tithing, once said: “Make it clear to them. Anyone who is not paying his tithe is not going to heaven. Full stop.”

TB Joshua ( Founder of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations)

As for pastor TB Joshua, he instead advised that tithe should be given to the poor and not the Church.

“Give them freely, you are paying your tithe. Because when you bring your tithe here to the church and if you pay yourself, you are helping us to pay. It is better you help us to pay than to bring it here for us to pay. It is a burden because we are may likely not pay the full tithe you give us. In one way or another, it becomes a sin to us.”

Bishop David Oyedepo (Senior Pastor of the Living Faith Church Worldwide)

Speaking on Tithing, he once said: 'If you don’t pay tithe you are permanently a beggar. I’m permanently under an open heaven. Every seed you give to God returns but only tithe secures your destiny. It's tithing that secures your blessing.

“Through the mystery of tithing, you don’t run out of divine ideas. Tithing opens the windows of heaven and pours you quick understandings.”

Apostle Johnson Suleman (General overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International)

The televangelist said: “If you asked me, there is nothing wrong with tithing. But tithes should be used by pastors to maintain Christianity, assist the poor in the church, the vulnerable and the stranded. Not that everything should go into the pastor’s pocket, that’s wrong. Every pastor should be on allowance.“

Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo (Senior pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre).

On stressing the importance and need for tithing, the cleric blasted critics saying: “So all those guys who are teaching all those things, most times they don't even know scriptures, they have never done theology, they have no depth.”

Paul Adefarasin ( Senior Pastor of the House on the Rock churches)

According to Pastor Adefarasin: “Tithe is a way to show that God is the supplier of your resources. God blesses and I respond with my 10%. It is an honour system, it means the money is not your God. You won’t be cursed if you don’t tithe but when you tithe you are saying you recognise Him and it keeps the cycle moving.
