BREAKING: Alaafin of Oyo Confirmed Dead After 52 Years Of Ruling


 The Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi is dead, according to Aynaijang.


Alaafin Adeyemi, the third from the Alowodu Ruling House, died in the late hours of Friday at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital in Ado Ekiti, according to PREMIUM TIMES.


According to palace insiders, the lifeless body of the top Yoruba traditional ruler were taken to Oyo in the early hours of Saturday, and traditional rites commenced.


He was 83 years old and had ruled for 52 years, making him the longest reigning Alaafin in history.


After receiving the word of the monarch's dying from the Bashorun of Oyo, Yusuf Akinade, the head of the 'Oyo Mesi,' who would now oversee Oyo until a new Alaafin is installed, the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, is anticipated to make an official announcement


The monarch had been ill, and a plan had been put in place to fly him out of the country before he died late Friday night.
